Another day with the devotees chanting and dancing in the street so many people there to meet
Very young devotees suggesting outfit colors with sweet words
When they come for darsana on Gaura Purnima they see they were heard
Guru-Gauranga Gandharvika-Giridhari are wearing mango, yellow and red. Red and gold mukuts that match today the scene takes the devotee’s breath away.
Hey look at the leis, vijayanti style, rhododendrons, marigolds, roses, lilies and fuchsia with their five different colors too.
Peddler go as fast as you can, offer respect to the ratha-bhojana-vrksa, cross the bridge that crosses the first highway and pass the field of the clank of the aluminum bat on the way to the whaler’s. At the house that taught choc-o-lot to talk-a-lot take the left and sprint to the redone road following the gecko and the toad. Between the lakes the fences are gone and the sufferers are back frolicking with the waves. The toad hops into the lead and takes us past the empty soccer pitch and on to the basketball park. The gecko attacks and takes the lead as we come up to the chant it clearly avenue. A few blocks later the toad takes his leave to close his shop. The gecko and I pass the harbor where the boats are mostly teathered. The natasala has “breaking away from George the third” on it’s marquee today. The gecko then takes his leave to close his shop too. I take the corner and pass the cruiser king’s reviewing stand through the triangle to the ramp and around the old people’s home. Left there and retrace a few pedal strokes till I’m back on the bridge over the first highway but going the opposite direction now. Through the lots and to the long and winding where the ratha-bhojana-vrksa waits for my folded palms. The sandhya is ready for me and the singers are too.
It’s a world of names and everything is named in one image or other like east Bengal is called Radhadesa since the Ganges doesn’t flow there, call this nightdress baby blue since it’s color is like a new born’s eyes.
