Meanwhile back in 1981
This peacock swooned at a sight as brilliant as the sun
Yesterday is over with this light the new one has begun
Plans for a vyasa puja outfit are being done
Teal and fuchsia celebrate this most blessed event for humanity
When he’ll take us along with many generations
Beyond our wildest expectations
To that life we really want to see
Seeing the leis of gerberas and pompoms with a marigold or two
Following the dancing mood
While Murkha and I take off from the asrama
Bow to the thakuras hope not to be gone to long
Dandavats to everyone
Crossing the main street
Spinning with other roadies
Remembering how the Thakuras are dressed today
Crossing the first highway
the whalers are ahead
blend with the pace line on the run
as the shop comes up on the right
I take leave while Murkha rounds the corner to take flight
Ratha-bhojana-vrksa calls out warning of the setting sun
Murkha bows his head and the kalarupa knows the time has come
Purple and green “a lion on the chase”
Mahaprabhu in ecstatic mood took the mace
Benefiting those who saw
Him pursue the atheists one and all
There’s an effulgence over their heads
Crystals dangling round their shoulders
Leis of a collection of roses, sunflowers and lilies
some roses for the arati tray
their gentle smiles reaching
right out to us all
pink and white with homemade mukuts
combine together devotees say it looks like a wedding cake
with the rain trying to inflict a brake
Murkha and I pedal along on the chord of a sitar
bouncing over the keys
Spinning the cacophony into a harmonious
Chorale through the afternoon
To the vaikalika time
And greeted by the kernel
Murkha wakes them again
Deep in the far off jungle the thakuras
Dance between the drops
Softly giggle and laugh
Till it’s time for the magala arati
And the day begins
This silk was painted day glow
The chodders, veils and sashes overflow
with lotus flowers Ganga water
and dragonflies
guaranteed to turn your frowns
upside down
Logician may say the world is in the mind
So we shan’t waste our time
in asat things
The leis are topmost flaming like exquisite jewelry
Petals and roses artistically coalesce
Spinning down the line
Between the raindrops in time
Murkha and I are on the run
All the fixed gear freaks are cumulous
Pedaling through the land over the first highway
Cruiser king is there too with his court looking for sunrays
Even here the ratha-bhojana-vrksa gets a call out
Murkha hears the shout
And connects with the kalarupa on the chase
To the transcendental place
With the manasa pedaling behind them
Soft gold and yellow is a gem
They go on enjoying like anything
They dance and they sing
How much joy can they bring
Parrots have tendency to hide in clothes
Blending with the colors
Not manifest To any and everyone
Camouflaged like a chameleon
Srimati Gandharvika and Mahaprabhu’s
Hide in the blue
Giridhari is in yellow but they hide in his chodder too
Gerberas, pompoms, petals and marigolds in leis
Capturing anyone who catches their gaze
Pedaling through sails
Impressed in the manasa trails
under and between the trees
swirling in the breeze
still call of the RBV
brings Murkha and kalarupa to meet
back for the sandhya is a daily feat
and in the ninth the moon wanes
red blue and green combination never the same
as always they reduce all of our pain
