The Deities didn’t really come from the east
But on Curudeva’s call descended from the spiritual sky
And the devotees made the yajna and a sacred vow
Their service they should try
They sewed and beaded
And cooked for them
Put leis around their necks
And the thkuras favorite colors
Appeared to be pink and green starting a trend
All the cloth for a long time was of a similar hue
Till it had all been sewn
New shades came and were made
To the wonderment of all
There were blues, reds, yellows, and purple
Till each day had it’s own shade
Then this once came
And the aruna har posse rides again
Quickly to the southland to make the show with friends
Over the first highway to where the the hospital curve ends
The tennis park is on the left the harbor on the right
Natasala at the corner where I break to work some more
Murkha sees the clock and knows the score
The house that taught choc-0-lot to talk-a-lot
Is what all have sought
The dvitya campa hatti is on the right
Leis makers haggle with the boss so can start tonight
RBV waiting quiet and calm
For murkha to pass folding his palms
The kalarupa shows the way
And a wild cat has his say
The lotus nails aren’t a weapon
That would disturb Brahma’s benediction
They take their rest
Happily as by now you’ve guessed
This one is of forest green so dark
Seamstress trimmed it well with black
Silvery pleats in the chodder and skirt
A touch so elegant makes commonplace hurt
Arrows that pierce the heart within
Darsana cause their head to spin
Leis of roses large and small
So light they add no weight while thakuras dance and have a ball
Murkha and I are bound for the coast
Pedaling around the pitch
Crossing the tracks to the side of the rich
There was strong effort
to get to the arati on time
pushing up ahead there are cruisers in the pedaler’s lane
and fixed gear freaks at the tennis park
still Murkha and I with our plain rigs
are the stronger ones at last
As the pujari blows the sandhya sank
And the thakuras take their amavasya rest
Shown By the lightning’s light
