I was born right at midnight
While all the cats were chased away
Curtain drawn across the altar
Thakuras had been placed in bed
Sounds mix with aromas outside the window
Riksaw wallas and street vendors in the dark
Pink lilies roses and petals makes the leis
Captures all beings attention
Gurudeva fans the spark
Murkha and I are out to pedal
Another afternoon soaking up the rays
Taking on Cyrus’ thoroughfare
Seeing the fixed gear freaks
Tease the cruisers who
venture into their own territory
in search of the next clue
I take leave between the lakes
Murkha has what it takes
Bowing to the ratha-bhojana-vrksa
Kalarupa follows him home
After the sandhya go to the altar
Neatly change the Thakura’s clothes
The kernel of divine love sings some bhajanas
Dress them in “deep within the far off jungle”
Soon Gurudeva will call us home
Tales oft have been told explaining luminaries
In the sky the moon seems to holding a rabbit
Look at the altar thakuras in silver and gold
From Gaura Purnima some time ago
So fortunate that Gurudeva has taught
How to tap into pure love
Fragrance of tube rose, pink lilies and roses leis
Became like guru
As it revealed itself and the taste for service too
Pedaling through the wind
Murkha and I were slowed down to a spin
Fixed gear freaks and cruisers too
All saw wind chilled sufferers turned blue
When the ratha-bhojana-vrksa quietly calls
And Murkha answers bowing his head
Kalarupa comes along to be led
Vijaya is ending his day
as he welcomes Murkha back from the fray
now at the time for their rest
yellow and gold soft silk is their dress
