Silver doves circling around
During kirtan devotees’ feet don’t touch the ground
Mrdunga and karatals sweet sound reach the sky
Gurudeva lovingly calls “dayal Nitai”
Blue and silver with red ribbon to tie up the theme
Seamstress asks “would a red backdrop make this scream?”
Cecil Bruner and other roses in the leis
Even the king gets sukriti this way
Over the main street but the satellite is down
So it’s on to the navapatra for the phalam and near friends
Passing the sufferers along the beach around the windmill and to the harbor where the team goes through among cruisers
The shows at the natasala are over as I take leave. Murkha goes through the margdvar for some dhupa
Then he takes the redone road past the tennis park to the dvitiya campa hatti. Over the first highway to the call of the
Ratha-bhojana-vrksa and the kalarupa shines the light of truth all the way to the asrama greeted by Vijaya’s lamp
Om paramahamsa Thakura helps Sri Guru-Gauranga Gandharvika-giridhari into their talking like a pirate nightdress. Giridhari’s mukut almost causes the need for a pinch dresser. He gets the hair set and then puts on the mukut when his hair is messed up trying to straighten it causes the mukut to fall into Giridhari’s face, that happened a couple of times until Murkha asks “for the service of Gurudeva please stay in place at least until the end of the mangala arati and Tulasi parikrama” in answer the mukut stays in place and the lights go out for them to enjoy their dancing
Srila Gurudeva came from the east
Our fortune to supply
He joined us in a ceremony with a solemn vow and the aruna har posse would ride
People brought much cloth and the seamstress she has sewn
Sequins and trims with jewels so bright stretching from side to side
Everyone was so satisfied to see the aruna har posse ride
Then the remnants were put aside
And other colors came
Then a month or so before Gaura Purnima the posse was in town
To the wonderment of all
Devotees came with needle and thread to make kirtas and cholis and chodders that reached their knees
The posse was on the way to please
The leis maker used petals, roses, hyacinth, and gerbera daisies
And the aruna har posse with these fragrant leis rode again into the devotees’ hearts
Spinning along the main street there’s a team on the way on the right side of the road this time Murkha and I pass the lion’s park and go through the village. Along the beach the sufferers part for the pedalers who flash past to the harbor. The natasala is dark today and I have to take leave at the shop. Murkha turns to the sandhya down the ramp past the house that taught choc-o-lot to talk-a-lot. The dvitiya campa hatti is doing a big business today and one of the leis makers is getting some flowers there. Over the first highway heading the call of the ratha-bhojana-vrksa folding his palms Murkha pulls the kalarupa to the sanhdya where the rabbits are grazing on the soft grass and greeting him.
“the lotus nails” is the nightdress. Green and gold but take a look in a different way and it’s easy to say that it is really orange. Two-way thread makes it a game for the eyes and mind. If we could only capture our minds with this hook our days would be numbered for sure.
