Pictures from yesterday too. Today is the Havirbhu. The luxurious printed silk with the wispy chiffon chodders Mahaprabhu's sash and Gandharvika's veil. Gandharvika's skirt ends one hand above the altar so the slip has a deep brown and orange trim to fill up the space. The garlands are short today so they won't feel the weight. The vase maker was back in town today and showing me how the leaves don't go in front. After that put apples in the bottom of one of the big vases. Nonetheless very artistic vases unbeatable.
Dashing past the hospital, flower market, whalers, post office and gecko's to the Saturday market. There folks are eager to talk. A black and white car passes behind me and someone puts out their arms in a handcuffed position to warn me. "You're cool with johnny law right?" i ask "Yes, they're glad we're here and keeping the park quiet on Saturdays. A band plays on. Then one of the folks i haven't seen in a couple of years comes and talks for a while. A little girl celebrating a birthday hands me a strawberry and then another has had her face painted with strawberries on her cheeks and a carrot for tilak. Her mother tells me conclusively that the pujari in Navadvipa is a left-hand er. Then it's time for a faster dash back for the vaikalika service. Next it's off to the orchard for some fly paper and yet another sprint back for the sandhya and tales of Indian Christians who tried to preach to our folks at the Independence day festival
The most blessed event ends the day with it's blue sari for Gandharvika, Mahaprabhu's green pants and blue kirta, Giridhari's purple kirta, green dhoti and purple cumber bun they dance away into the night.
