While i was dressing them in it for the first time the reader of the Caitanya Caritamrta had come to a verse where some devotees were searching for Krsna. They came upon some female deer and asked "Oh dear doe have you seen Krsna?" the reader made a point of spelling the word d-e-e-r so we'd all know what he was saying. That became the name then, i couldn't resist.
